'Titanic' Review By thedude-abides

If ever a film's title embodied the film itself, Titanic is just that. A 3 hour plus love epic on par with Gone With the Wind.

The following was saved from the paragraph reviews contest held a few months back in which I failed to submit my entry on time... Hope you enjoy.

Drifter Jack Dawson has just punched his ticket on the maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic thanks to a lucky hand in a last minute poker game. Aboard the ship, he meets Rose Dewitt Bukater - an upper class debutant engaged to Pittsburgh Steel tycoon, Cal Hauckly. With fate bearing a destination course set straight for the bottom of the Atlantic, Rose must choose between the newly-acquainted Jack, or her rich - and often berating - fiancee in Hauckly. The film went on to break every major box office record in history, making it the highest grossing film of all time at that point. Written and directed by James Cameron, Titanic amassed 11 Oscar wins in 14 nominations, including Best Director and Best Picture 1997. Now if I can just get that damned song out of my head...

@thedude-abides Shorter than your usual work but a nice, quick read.

@dan1 & @chickflick That's fair enough, but it was actually a tactical approach on my part. I tried to structure this more like the back of a dvd case seeing as how I only had a paragraph to work with, which doesn't allow for much room to maneuver. Thanks for the comments.

@thedude-abides Though it's well worded, gotta agree with @chickflick. This was a rundown of the plot, it's BO, and awards.

This is more like a synopsis, not really a review. In a review you can briefly state the plot, but really a review is about your opinion, your read of the film. What did you like, not like? What do you think the movie is trying to make you think, feel, draw relationships between. Mainly it is about your read, your personal review.
