Even with a great performance by Tom Hardy, This Means War is a funny film that falls short

This Means War is a good romantic comedy film led by a obviously good performance by Tom Hardy but doesnt deliver any hard action or insanley hilarious that people would think of when seeing it but it does deliver the laughs that make it memorable.

The screenplay was decent. Wriiten by Timothy Dowling and Simon Kinberg, This Means War is a unique film as it is spy againts spy as two CIA agents fall for the same girl and use CIA resources to spy on one another. The film has a good story, with hilarious parts here and there, but it cant suceed because of the acting but one of the great things about it is that it contains element from different genres which helps it stand out amongst other romantic films.

The acting done in This Means War was, again, decent. Everyone who came into this film played their parts well but the real stand out was Tom Hardy as Tuck. Tom Hardy as always shines in this film as he delivers real emotions and is able to connect with Witherspoon and deliver real chemistry between each other and without Tom Hardy this film wouldnt have been as good. Unfortunatly Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon fall short as they lack real chemistry between each other but when Tom Hardy and Chris Pine interact with each other onscreen together is great as they can establish a friendship between each other and I applaud them for that.

The directing done by McG was great as always. Now while he had some bad shots here and there he still shot the film well enough that it reminds you of those 80's buddy cop films but at the same time made it more modern and kept it fresh and I applaud him for his great work, along with his cinematographer Russell Carpenter.

The visuals done in This Means War were very descent, in fact they were one of the highlights of the film. McG as done a great job at capturing every scene beautifully while at the same time not making every scene overly exaggereated with huge shots like Terminator Salvation.

Overall I give this film 7/10 stars. Now while is not the best film to start 2012 off, it is still a funny comedy that would make a good date to take that special someone out to or just you and a friend to see and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good laught at the movies.
