The only way to describe the yards is to say that its a cross between the Godfather and Mean Streets you deffinatly get the Godfather family aspect of the movie but you also get the Mean Streets setting more than anything. This isnt really a Mafia movie though it has some mafia elements but its more of a story about a family crissis and bussiness corruption than anything. Mark Whalberg gives a great perfromance probably his third best behind Boogie Nights and The Departed and no Marky Mark does not play the bad ass like he did in The Departed he plays a character thats really scared but hes going to do what he has to not to get whacked. The whole cast is great Joaquin Phoenix plays a real *sshole who you actually like and James Cann plays a real S.O.B. Its a great movie its a little different than most crime films but its probably one of the best ones ive ever seen.
