'The X-Files: I Want to Believe' Review By Hunch51984

Great to see Mulder and Scully again but the movie was kinda disappointing even for me, a die hard X-Files fan.

May have worked better if this had been a made for TV movie, we did get some closure on two of TV's best characters ever to appear on the boob tube. I actually like the story but there was so much dialogue and little to no action, I usually enjoy lots of dialogue when there is some action thrown in but not this time around. The upside of the movie is that the story itself is very smart. The down side it is reminiscent of many of the great episodes of the show, but looking back it was essentially like watching a half-hour episode of the show which I wasn't happy about paying $10 dollars to see something I can watch on TV, and if it were an episode in the show it certainly wouldn't be a good episode, memorable in some parts yes, but pretty forgettable in others.

So unfortunately as an X-Files fan I tried hard to find stuff to like in this movie but other than seeing Mulder, Scully and a few other familiar faces, watching Billy Connolly (who was fantastic) and having a smartly written plot this was not the best, but certainly not the worst. So I recommend you see it, but maybe wait till the DVD or for it to come on TV at some point.

Very true. Pretty much summed up my opinion, although my review is slightly more lengthy.
