Back in July a movie was being advertised as a horror movie starring Harry Potter veteran actor Daniel Radcliffe, and it seemed to show potential in being a real terrifying movie to see for the Halloween weekend; sadly though, it was scheduled for a February 2012 release instead. As with most movies that come out in the January-March period are usually land fill dumpster movies that were released in the early year since there wasn't any room left for the Oscar films and the horror movies with Holiday kid flicks all crammed into a two month end of the year period. Sometimes you'll get hidden gems (Cloverfield for example) and majority of the time they are huge disappointments. The Woman in Black is not a huge let down but somewhat a good movie for people (like me) who just want to be scared....

The story centers around a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps who is in deep financial crisis. With stress from his employees he is given an assignment to a handle an Estate owned by a woman who's family has dark secrets to a mysterious past. Soon Arthur must survive a terrifying week with encounters from The Woman in Black.

Being a great actor that Daniel Radcliffe is for starring in the Harry Potter franchise for ten years and acting in Broadway plays from around the world, he is an A-list actor who's at the top of his game for carrying on a 100 minute long film all by himself for the majority of the movie. The movie does have a slow start, but it's not up until Arthur arrives at the house that things start to go bump in the night; and by bump I mean like "jump out of your seat pissing your pants" jump scares filled with loud shrieking noises and in your face mega scares.

I'm starting to think "ugh...this isn't going to be as good as I want it to be" with all these gimmicky jump scares. Soon those jump scares wore off on me (but beware the raven...that'll get you good) and then it started to get REAL good. Think of Paranormal Activity movies without the night vision. You start to see things move in the background and hear thumps and creaks throughout the house. I wasn't screaming out loud like the other hundred girls in the theater were but it was getting the hair on the back of my neck to stand up and I was feeling petrified struck with fear as my heart started to race.

If you're a fan of Daniel Radcliffe you won't be disappointed with this film, if you love being scared (and who the hell doesn't?!) you won't be let down, if you just want a damn good time with your friends, you won't be bored, if you love experiencing a horror movie just to watch the audience, trust me, you're going to have fun! So with that being said, The Woman in Black is a good film to watch if you're into scary movies, and it may not be as great like the trailers made it out to be, but it's good to see Daniel Radcliffe back on the big screen after Harry Potter withdrawals; then this movie is for you!

P.S. It's really freaking intense for a PG-13 rated movie, but it's worth every dollar

@ghostman Ughhhh, you compared it to Paranormal Activity. That's the number one reason NOT to see a movie. Haha, great review!
