It's the summer 1994 , socially awkward pot dealer Luke Shapiro just graduated and plans on just selling pot troughtout New York city all summer long before going to university and in the meantime his kinda searching for himself , His only real friend his a midle aged psychiatrist wich he trades weed for therapy sessions . He kinda falls Dr.Squires step daughter who's kinda just chilling out and fooling around with with him cuz all her friends are gone for the summer .Dr.Squires is also kinda still searching for himself and his stuck in a loveless mariage.

The wackness is a a realisticly funny coming of age story , and in my opinion quite a really good one , maybe the fact that I really relate to the lead character in so many level groing up and still now affects my appreciation for it . My wife watch it first and she's the one that warn me that I would see myself in the lead charatcer , It was one of the reason why she loved it so much . Luke is kinda a pessimist silently angry young man really searching hard for himself , he is kinda the most unpopular of the most popular , He's kinda depress without beeing in a depression mainly cuz of one reason thats quite well simply explain by Stephanie '' Know what your problem is, Shapiro? It's that you just have this really sh*tty way of looking at things, ya know? I don't have that problem. I just look at the dopeness. But you, it's like you just look at the wackness, ya know?

''

and he really enjoys smoking is weed and selling it. His music preferance his Hip-hop (rap ) but will listen to anything , weres a hoody and a casset walkman and is mainly a solitary person

(ecxept for the fact that I did had a few real friends that was me back then and now , in a sad way I am kinda evolving into Dr.Squires)

It's also kinda of a good time peice , it's set in the summer of 94 , and i remember quite clearly the styles and clothes from that year and the 90's , and everthing was right on the button , I went in New york in 96 and it was quite similar too . I also remember clearly the summer of 94 , since I was 14 and it was the summer i really started smoking pot and hash ( and doing other things) and it's also the year i really started getting into rap , buying rap albums and developping my tastes in rap songs and music . And the groups and artist that got me started was mainly Bone-thugs and Harmony , Wu-tang clan , method man , 2pac , snoop dog and Biggie , and a lot of them like Biggie , Nas , Mehtod man , wu-tang had albums coming out that summer. And this film really pays hommage to what came out that sum mer by having some really good wu-tang , A tribed called quest , De la soul , B.I.G ect... track . lol I really enjoyed when Method Man is listening to the song The what the he did with B.I.G on His album and says that B.I.G is the new hot thing in the rap buisness and that song is the suit ( it really really is , one of my fav ever) .Also am so glad they aded Craig Mack's ( lol the ugliest rapper ever) Flava in ya ear classic sleeper hit , it and his entire album was overshadowed by B.I.G's released since they were both on Bad boy and both album came out around at the same time both only B.I.G got some promotional help

another strong thing about this film is the casting Jsh Peck is luke shapiro , that role look like it was made for him , kinda shows a lot the he really his from new york and had a similar up bringing .And again I think this perfomance by one of the best actor ever Ben kingsley is just has memorable has his most famous perfomance like ghandi , Sexy beast and the house of sand and fog , that actor is just so phenomenal . And you can never go wrong with Famke Janssen in my opinion , undearated actress with a lot of acting range. But 2 other breaktrough perfomance are cameos , Method man in my opinion is the best rapper turn actor in the buisness , he's been in a lot of sh*t and suprisingly in a lot of indie films like this one , people who are not familiar with him and watch this may even think he is Jamiacan . And the other is from Mary-kate Olson has a mushroom space out hippie pot smoker , I remember a girl who was in my class's in high school who was exactly like that character

If you live your teenage years in the 90's and enjoy listening to hip-hop or just a fan of indie realistic coming of age story , then trie this one out
