It's only freighting sometimes from its wickedly creepy visuals, but also very entertaining, mostly entertaining though. Not only the visuals are entertaining, but the films mystery and script to the story of the find-outs are not just entertaining to watch, but smart as well.

Some of these visuals reminded me of the scenes from 'The Shining' with those two twin little girls standing in the middle of the hallway. That scared and terrified the living hell out of me when I first watch 'The Shining'. 'The Uninvited' uses three children that are similar to those two girls in 'The Shining', only that there's one girl and two boys. Other differences, they don't stand around and they're not really scary or terrifying, they're rather freighting and quite creepy.

'The Uninvited' is about a young teenage girl named Anna (Emily Browning) that returns home from a hospital that she spent at for a while to see her sister, Alex (Arielle Kebbel) and dad. Anna isn't entirely happy coming home. Anna doesn't like the fact that her father is dating a girl that's -at least- a decade younger than him, but not only that. Before Anna went into the hospital her mother was ill and got killed in an explosion that was assumed to be an accident. Anna knows that the explosion wasn't an accident. She knows that somebody made it happen.

While Anna tries to figure out who killed her mother she begins to have illusions of her mother and three different children trying to point out that her dad's young girlfriend made the explosion happen to kill the mother and have the father all to herself. Anna and Alex realize that not only the girlfriend got rid of the mom, but now the sister's think that they're going to be the next murder victims so killer can have to the father all to herself. So Anna and Alex have to convince their dad that his girlfriend killed their mother before they get killed.

All of this leads to the ending that is unexpected jaw-dropping, and one of the most shocking movie endings ever made. This ending you will not see coming, and because of how shocking this ending is gives this film another reason why it is smart. The ending is the best scene in the film.

A good mystery to the story with a shocking ending with scenes that are sometimes frightening, makes 'The Uninvited' a smart visually entertaining horror film that is worth seeing.
