Still having the ending spoiled did not ruin the film for me. To put it simply the movie is about a young boy named Cole who can see dead people, because of this problem he has troubles at home, fitting in at school and most other places, psychiatrist Dr Malcome Crowe tries to help cole through what he thinks (at first anyway) are hallucinations. This was the film that really kicked off M Night Shyamalans career, and showed that Bruce Willis can play more than just an action hero. For me the film's success largely hinged on the performance of 3 Actors, Bruce Willis (Dr Malcome Crowe), Haley Joel Osment (Cole Sear) and Olivia Williams (Anna Crowe). If those 3 actors delivered anything other than a superb, convincing performance the surprise ending would have been alot easier to pick. Toni Colette delivers an amazing performance as the mother of young Cole Sear. Her character adds emotional depth to the story, and she does a great job at making us feel emotionally attached to both her character and to Cole.
Overall an all star cast, all star performance and an all star film. A must see.
