The cgi is one thing to look at. Not much used in this movie, but when it is used, its at its best. Its contemplating thrill behind depicting a girl who drowned in the well because of her mother's seize to develop sense that she ans her father could not deal with her "sickness" is somewhat grand, and weird. Especially how it is shown as the events unravel.
Samara as she is called was creepy. Very creepy. Her character is played by Daviegh Chase, as seen also in Donnie Darko and S. Darko, but the relevance to her acting in this thriller is beyond imagination. I loved how Verbinski (the director, POTC 1-3) delved into the character and showed us the scary side of scary. Naomi Watts' caharcter was amusing to see develop as well. Its funny how she can be so lonely at times, even when her son is seeing Samara and drawing out the landscapes of her purge of humanity through a videotape. With the vieotape, thats a great piece of material for a scary movie. A video inside a video. Teens being shown the video before they die, and images of them all all screwey and messed up with no point behind it but just to scare the unknowingly doubted victims before Samara takes care of them. Now, I'm not going to unravel the ending, no spoilers! but this def grabbed me to my gut with scared-sh*tless-tones of thrilling apathy in the movie itself.
A strong story, with developing characters and attitudes towards a spooky, yet weird function of control over scaring the viewer itself, The Ring will scare you out of your seat, an if watched multiple times, it will become a legend in your scary movie lists. I put this as number one on mine.

Yea... I saw this when it came out on video. It was like 2 am when the stupid little sh*t crawls out of the tv.... it spooked the hell out of me. Gave me chills... and I don't scare easy either. That scene was just chilling. haha
I see you took my advice about the paragraph thing. Nice. You actually should have divided that third paragraph also when you started talking about "a video inside a video" topic. Its a different subject from what you were talking about (Samara).
A much better job. ;)
