I think that it is fairly possible, there are so many intriguing elements in that movie; Have you people thought on about what led to the creation of the video and how the video also somewhat shows how to fight this evil for example, Samara's step mother in the mirror and we can see that in 'The Ring 2' that Samara is seen via the mirror in the loo plus the former's suicide jump from the cliff as the video ends somewhat divulges on about how to exit the world wherein Samara has been trapped. There are so many things that I would like to know: How did this start? Why did Samara's biological mother said that the baby was never 'conceived'? Why does she thereof says that she can still save the baby? What was the drawings specially of that 4 shadows holding hands and forming a circle, something as the like of a sabbath! And so on and so forth. I guess that prequel or sequel, the movie can play wonders! Plus, to anyone wanting to know how Samara can get out after the well has had been closed, let's just assume that the well hasn't been closed in the other copies of the same video, plus, what if anything that captures Samara's reflection might be a sort of portal?! Waiting eagerly for what is going to ensue.

I heard that it was about the tape being on a suicide site that teens in japan use, leading to a girlfriend of a victim trying to find out what happened to him. when she finds out, it kind of ends up like a remake. only she can't copy the tape because it is on a website.

I read more of the comments, which are some good questions being asked. As seen in the second film, Rachel closed the well when Samara pulled her into the TV, but what if that isn't how she got out? What if the 'video' is the key, or more importantly, the 'doorway' in which Samara uses to escape the well? This, combined with my earlier comment on the mp3 file, could set the story for a sequel, of course, a prequel can happen too in order to show how it all started and where Samara came from (look at the UNDERWORLD series). In my opinion, this is NOT a bad story concept, and has the potential of going for several movies (6 films maybe).

I have seen comments concerning how a sequel (not prequel) could be handled considering no one actually watches VHS tapes anymore (Last I saw, no longer a format used). But if you go to YouTube, you can find dozens of old movies, TV shows and sports games that people recorded and/or found on VHS tapes, were able to record/upload onto their computer and convert into MP4/AVI/MOV files. What if someone did this to Samara? Took the tape, created a copy in the form of a AVI file, it gets onto YouTube- POW!! people fall over dead. Just when ya thought Samara was gone, the internet brings her back....

Ok guys, last I heard, the third one is a prequel. It talks about Samara's life (probably with Evelyn and with Anna). Obviously they wouldn't have her locked in a well just so some idiot can let her out. How would it end then?

I'm really afraid that the concept of a girl coming out of a television to kill around is old news for nowadays. On the other hand, the first two (or three - how you wanna name it) parts of the sequel left many question marks. I hope that in The Ring 3 we finally come to know what was all about Samara.

earreola, dude, what the hell? the movie hasnt even come out yet, how can we tell you what had happened, and if it was released, go see it! the ring franchise are good movies, but their horrors, and the directors probably havent put as much thought into the film as you have. most of the first film was just plain confusing as well, you didnt know what was going on by the end.
