The Number 23: Review By The CryptKeeper

Nasty Evil Dog. That's what Ned stands for. If I ever see him again it's gonna be Ned with 2 D's. Nasty Evil Dead Dog.

The Number 23 is possibly one of my favorite movies, and definitely my favorite movie that Jim Carrey has done. And that's saying a lot, because I actually like his sense of humor, unlike most comedians. He should do more roles like this, because he is not only good at comedy, but good at serious stuff as well. He plays the part well, and I atually can't see anyone else in this role. He plays 2 characters in the movie. He plays Walter Sparrow, a man who for his birthday gets a book. This book has close similarities to his childhood. He gets captivated by the book and obsessed with it. The character in the book, named Fingerling,(whom Carrey also plays) keeps on seeing the number 23 everywhere. Fingerling goes crazy trying to figure out what it all means. Sparrow remembers things from the past, and he too gets obsessed with the number.

Carrey does a great job in this new role for him. The story is excellent, and so is the directing by Joel Schumacher, who brought us The Lost Boys.

Also starring Virginia Madsen (Candyman) as Sparrow's wife and Fingerling's lover, and a brief appearence by Rhona Mitra (Doomsday).

An excellent film, highly recommended to everyone, especially fans of Jim Carrey, so they can see what else he can do.
