A Decent Film, But Not The Greatest Sequel.

I had a bad feeling from the moment I read that Rob Cohen was taking over the reigns of director from Stephen Sommers. This didnt have the magic that the previous two Mummy films had. I missed Egypt, I missed Imhotep. This whole Chinese theme to the film didnt really click well.

It felt very short and to the point. Now sometimes that is a good thing, but not in this case. Its been nearly eight years since we've seen these characters and we want to know what they've been up to. This does that in a very rushed and empty manner. In passing it sort of explains what has happened since Mummy Returns, sort of. The Mummy in this film was too easily beaten, it gets resurrected then sent back to hell or where ever it came from in the blink of an eye.

The special effects werent the greatest but were good enough to be able to enjoy it to some extent. Overall its a good movie, but not the Mummy movie we were all hoping for. Stephen Sommers needs to take back control and bring this back to its original glory once again. Rob Cohen needs to back away from this franchise and do something else. A fun film but thats about it, not a whole lot of heart like the others had. Bring back Egypt, bring back that magic.

    Just got the weekend estimates for Aug 1... 1 - Dark Knight with 43.8 million and #2 - Mummy 3 with 42.5 million.

    GOOD! This movie didn't deserve taking the #1 spot away from the Dark Knight. Jesus... this puts the Dark Knight at $395 million.

    Dark Knight should hit 400 million tomorrow making it the fastest movie to do so. The record was previously held by Shrek 2 (which did it in 43 days). This is mind boggling.

    TericK... you gave this movie FOUR stars based on the fact you "like Brendan Fraser". That's just dumb. Give Brendan four stars and the movie what it deserves... which is alot less. At least Punisher gave coherent reasons to say it wasn't that bad. And one of them WAS NOT liking Brendan Fraser.

    Agree about bringing back the Egyptian scenery... this one was not the same. I probably ranted a little too much on my review, but went as far as advising people NOT to see this movie. Just tyring to save people some money. haha
