When the original film came out in 1999 I felt that this was a franchise that could have ran and ran. Then the second film 'The Mummy Returns' showed us that the people who made it had no vision or imagination. They simply made the same film all over again. Now when I saw that a third film was to be released I really wanted it to succeed and re-ignite the franchise. Sadly, it is so bad it doesn't deserve to have even been released. The makers have simply made the first and second films yet again and set it in China. When will people realise that Brendan Fraser can't act and needs to be supported by a good cast with a good script? The cast were in place but the script wasn't. I think an empty cinema on a Saturday in August says it all. How on earth can Hollywood take us all for such idiots by believing that this could be a success? I am beginning to despair that anyone could have spent so much money making this film. Is there nobody left in the film industry capable of saying 'I want some new ideas!'
