This films is the first of the Jack Ryan films made into a feature film. It is a great film using the cold war back round to start up a huge mystery of a missing Russian submarine. The cast is first rate with Sean Connery with the lead role of Captain Ramius who is quite and interesting charater who uses his keen senses to keep his sub out of harms way. With a supporting cast of Tim Curry and Sam Neil to help him as he evades the like of the U.S. navy and his own military. Alex Baldwin works well as a young and unsure jack ryan who has a hunch of what the captain is up to. This film gives all the pressure and action and suspence of a rollercoaster ride underwater. This is a great movie to see if you want to see an evolution of a script that keeps you guessing.
