wrong. it's the shortest book at 310 pages in comparison to LOTR's near 1K+ split into three, and could easily fit into less than 3hrs, let alone 5 or 6 which would be the projected total runtime if it is split in half.

Raoul Duke: the book has too much content in it, so they're splitting it up into two movies.
Everyone else: It sounds like they will have Ian McKellan play Gandalf again (YAY!), Andy Serkis as Gollum (DOUBLE YAY!), but Bilbo is much younger in "The Hobbit" than he is in "The Lord of the Rings" so they will most likely have another actor as 'younger' Bilbo (which I see as a YAY as well). It is rumored that the production staff is holding out for "Wanted"/"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"/"Becoming Jane" star James McAvoy (and I hope he gets the part!) Though, it would be nice to see a new actor that no-one has already associated with another role.

There is no second Hobbit. It's one book. This shouldn't be being made. If they were gonna do Hobbit as two parts, that would be cool, but just throwing stuff together for the sake of bridging the the lord of the rings and and the hobbit is just stupid. They should just do The Silmarillion.
