The Happening: Review By PUNISHER

Not Shyamalan's Most "Happening" Film.

One of the most appreciated and notable qualities of Shyamalan's films are the twist endings that no one sees coming. For The Happening this feature is no where to be found. It sort of just ends, the credits start and everyone kinda just sits there, then quietly they get up and leave. No "Holy Sh*t! Can you believe how that ended? Thats f*cked up!" moment that I personally thought was coming. Not his worst but not his best, no question about it. This felt like ten minutes and it was over.

I have to say the scariest aspect to this is an old lady that frankly just has bad people skills. She's not exactly a gracious host. All the shocking images and gore and blood that was promised to us by Shyamalan himself, I felt was absent from the movie. I think more blood and gore is seen in the red band trailer than the film itself. It felt watered down to cater to the pussies that cant take a little FAKE blood. It certainly is not everyone's type of movie but it wasnt the worst movie either. I think what I am most disappointed about is this didnt feel like an M. Night Shyamalan movie. To me most of his films have a certain feel to them and I didnt pick up on that this time around. Oh well...

I thought it was a comedy and not a horror film!?

I mean when Mark Wahlberg talks to a plastic plant I couldn't stop laughing!

The true disaster on display in The Happening is Shyamalan's career hitting rock bottom.
