The Good the Bad and the Ugly: Review By WiseGuy

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is directed by Sergio Leone and is the third and final film in The Man With No Name trilogy. Having this being the first of the three that I saw it clearly is without a doubt, the best. Not many movies made can be as perfect as The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I mean, it’s not the best movie ever made, according to Quentin Tarantino it is, but it is arguably one of the best. Starring Clint Eastwood as the Good (Blondie), Lee Van Cleef as the Bad (Angel Eyes), and Eli Wallach as the Ugly (Tuco).

The film is about three men, as I presented who compete to find a fortune in buried Confederate gold. This is a spaghetti western and is considered to this day to be the best. These three actors give terrific performances especially Clint who is excellent as Blondie. He is the main protagonist. Lee Van Cleef plays a very good villain and is perfect for the role. And the last of three Eli Wallach plays the funny and annoying Tuco, who transforms Tuco into a good and likable character. He really shines in the movie and it is just fun to watch him on screen. The chemistry between Blondie and Tuco is very entertaining and very funny.

Overall, the acting is fantastic as expected. And Blondie, Angel Eyes and Tuco are finally all in the same scene in the famous duel battle at the end of the film, which is considered to be one of the greatest scenes in cinema. I believe so. The music in the film is perfection. No other soundtrack is better than this. Not joking, I am whistling this theme song about every day. It will be attached to your head. It is great.

The combination of Morricone and the brilliant directing style of Leone will never be equaled. This combination works best in the final battle scene with all three actors. All the close-ups of the guns, their hands, their eyes, their faces; is just so intense and suspenseful. You are saying to yourself…… what the hell is gonna happen? When the f*ck is someone gonna shot someone? And the music fits in perfectly with the scene. It is just amazingly awesome, and brilliant. My favorite scene in the entire film. The story is just riveting and there is not one dull moment throughout this masterpiece. It is complete perfection. I can go on and on saying how brilliant and perfect this film is but I will let you decide for yourself. But seriously everything about the film is perfect. The cinematography and the shots in the film are beautiful and stunning. I can watch The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly any day and will be fine with doing so. It is suspenseful, intense, funny, gritty, violent, and there are many action scenes that will leave you satisfied. It is one hundred percent pure entertainment and satisfactory.

The acting is terrific, the soundtrack is the best soundtrack in the history of film, the directing is some of the best Ive seen, the cinematography is beautiful, and the story is simple yet brilliant. Now that defines a perfect film. The best films ever made, and without a doubt the best western ever made. So if you haven’t seen this, you are missing out Big time. Go to Blockbuster or put it on your Queue……….NOW!
