The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Review By Forrestgump1

A Brutal masterpiece. TGWTDT showcases , David Fincher at his best , reminding audiences how good he really is. Yes at times its hard to watch but featuring an Oscar worthy performance from Rooney Mara. This is film is nothing short or shy of near perfect

What can i say? .. more like what can't you say. "The Girl" series was first made popular with the films being first made in Sweden. Now Director David Fincher (Social Network & Fight Club) has helmed the first film in the beloved series. Based on the books by Steig Larson. The material that is fantastic is already there it just needs to be translated to the screen in a way audiences and fans of the book can enjoy it. First thing of course is casting "the girl" and on David's part it was done incredible well. Rooney Mara (most of you know from Social Network .. but also had the lead in the reboot of Nightmare on Elm Street) lets hope she is more remembered for her role in this movie as appose to that one. Anyway she deserves an Oscar Nomination for Best Actress. I mean there is no question her performances was nothing short of astounding. I was surprised at how well she put herself into her role it was done in such a way , i can't even begin to describe. It definitely earns its R rating here so don't being the kids. Featuring a very brutal and graphic Rape scene.. so graphic to the point ...where people in my theater actually got up and left. So this film is not for everyone. But damn it .. its just so amazing and done it such a way only Daivd Fincher can do i fell like after seeing this movie , my life has been altered.

Story - 5/5 - The film opens with an outstanding remix of Barracuda ..and some weird stuff that i can't even begin to describe it was like being inside the mind of a physco. Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) a journalist has been hired by a wealthy C.EO Henrik Vanger (plummer) to re-open a case which ties back 40 years earlier .. in which a young girl Harriet was murdered at age 16. In need of an assistant to help solve this case. Lisbeth Salander (Mara) a researcher for Milton Security and a computer hacker. Has been asked to assist in the solving of these crimes.

Story: 5/5 - its no question that the detective cat and mouse game has been all done before. But i feel its never been in this dark tone. That blends the perfect mixture of suspense and thriller. With giving us just enough to the point where we desire and need more. David Fincher and Company have written something so bold , so daring. We need directors like Fincher who actually know how to make great movies and get good material and know what to do with it. starting with the perfectly cast which leads into ACTING: 5/5 - Daniel Craig & Rooney Mara are the paring of a century perfect leads for a perfect movie. If these two leads do not receive any type of attention come this awards season it will be a shocker. Rooney Mara express herself in such a way!.. this is the kind of movie that jump starts your career and its not easy embracing such a hard character with a not so quaint personality that is brave and not afraid to defend herself. That is something you should know now. Directing 5/5 - as i have already begin to say throughout my review David Fincher has brought to the screen something fantastic. There is no question i could see any other director helming these films and so on it will be very different tone if he does not return to direct the next installment.

Overall: 5/5 - A Brutal masterpiece. TGWTDT showcases , David Fincher at his best , reminding audiences how good he really is. Yes at times its hard to watch but featuring an Oscar worthy performance from Rooney Mara. This is film is nothing short or shy of near perfect. There you have it. This will almost for sure get a nod for Best Picture ..considering there is 10 slots now so don't be surprised now as to if it will win?. Who knows i don't know any other competition. But this film defiantly has something to offer than most movies don't dare to offer this past year. I was so happy and excited with the films perfect smooth and pitch perfect story-telling and you would think having a very lengthy run time 2 hours and 37mins .. would be bad. But being honest i never wanted this movie to be over. It was the quickest most intense 157mins of my life. If the run time is a turn off. Don't let it be. Most people are flocking to this movie. Mainly because of good buzz and word of mouth. But that is the way it should be. David Fincher should be proud as should Rooney Mara. This is by far one of the best movies of 2011 and i saw it too late for it to make the cut. But if your reading this .. then of course you know. If you have not seen this movie already. You need to as soon as possible.

A++
