  • Just read that the film is officially under what we have hoped.

@moviewiz001 2 hr 38 mins seems okay to me, but I am curios to know how that compares to the Swedish version. I'm not as concerned with the length of the film as much as I am with the handling of the graphic content.

  • @ejk1 Rated R for brutal violent content including rape and torture, strong sexuality, graphic nudity, and language

    Eh, I can handle it

  • @moviewiz001 Where the hell's my @mention?! lol....anyways, this is the perfect runtime for this movie, hopefully a director's cut will be in store for us when it comes out on blu-ray :) Are you sure you can handle this movie? I haven't read the book (i want to though) but i heard the book isn't for the faint of heart ;)

@moviewiz001 My concern was over whther or not they were going to softball those scenes to avoid an NC-17 rating. Some of those scenes in the book were descriptive, to say the least. I'm hoping they don't cut down on the brutality.

  • @ghostman Weird. I thought you were in there.

I suffered 96mins of sexuality in Crank 2
I suffered 126mins of the torture of Jesus Christ in Passion of the Christ
I normally watched 112 minutes of graphic nudity in Love and Other Drugs
And handled 5 SECONDS of 2 Girls 1 Cup

    Woo! Bring it on!

  • Why couldn't they just give Fincher his 3 hour cut? F*ck. Looks like the DVD and Blu-Ray will be packed with extra footage though. The Swedish version of the film was pretty violent and I'm sure Fincher won't back down from the brutality to avoid an NC-17 rating. They already said in an article a month or two ago that the violence was extreme.

  • @moviewiz001 Funny thing is, I watched Love & Other Drugs last night on HBO, it's a good movie, couldn't finish it though since it was on late, and seeing Anne Hathaway naked everytime made me tired ;)

You made it 5 seconds through 2Girls1Cup? dude, i saw the whole video while not wearing my glasses and didn't get sick at all :P From my POV of not having glasses on, it looked like they were eating peanut butter and making out with it hahaha! XD

  • @moviewiz001 -- Thanks for the news/mention. I told you that were be the perfect length for the film, didn't I?(I said 2H 40M, I think - close enough).

  • It's longer than the Swedish version, so that's a plus. And NOOOOOOOOO, Fincher will NOT cut down on the brutality. It took them NINE days to film Lisbeth's rape scene. I'm pretty sure that means its going to be pretty hardcore.

  • i don't get the obsession with having this be super brutal.. but whatever. That's a little disturbing to me.

  • @moviegeek because if it wants to live up to the book or be on the same level of greatness as the Swedish version, it has to be brutal.

  • @moviefreak97 Actually, its not really longer than the Swedish version. Its longer by 4 minutes, lmao.

  • @moviegeek Because, in this very very rare case, the brutality is essential to the plot. In particular my above mentioned rape scene.

  • @moviefreak97@corey Well at the end of the day we probably won't see eye to eye, but I think a film can be extremely brutal and intense without being graphic. And it seems like everyone wants this to be some NC-17 graphic film, when, in reality, the film can capture the intensity and the brutality of the book without.

  • Sh*t, that's a long-ass movie.
