For something this potentially silly to work, the actors need to play it completely straight. This is a serious horror film. By the second half of this movie, all suspension of disbelief is pretty much in Cronenberg's hands. You accept all of it, thanks to the humanity and authentic touch of this skilled director and actors. Pity and fear mix with revulsion as we see what Seth is becoming. It's difficult to take, but it's as hard not to watch. A brilliant horror movie.

    This movie made Jeff Goldblum. I love this move and think the special effects are pretty good considering it was made in 1986 (wow time flies, no pun intended). I actually like the second one too with Eric Stoltz.

    You got it down perfect. Jeff Goldblum is awesome in this movie..when he starts to lose his fingers! heh and his yummy gooey ear...oooh yeah...I loved this movie...you like The fly 2?
