The Faculty: Review By John2347

To start off I'm not going to write a huge review I like to keep mine short and to the point Im not writing for Entertainment weekly here Im writing for myself. If your going to talk about the faculty you have to bring up that its basically like if John Hughes's wrote an alien invasion story, because most reviews I've read about this movie always compare it to The Breakfast Club meets Invasion of the body snatchers witch is true in a way. This is a high school teen flick and its one of my favorites because Its the only one that I know of thats about an alien invasion and I love alien invasion flicks. Im not saying its a great movie it defiantly has its flaws its predictable witch is its biggest flaw, but for a B rated flick its very enjoyable. While the movie is not anything original it does have a lot of things going for it one being that while we have seen this story done to death we have these great characters and a fun setting to make this movie enjoyable. The faculty does pay homage and references a lot of Sci-Fi horror films that where obviously influenced by writer Kevin Williamson and director Robert Rodriguez that it makes the film fun to watch and look for those moments. The cast in this movie is great and I say that because I like all the characters in this movie and if the cast wasn't good I wouldn't of liked all the characters. Robert Rodriguez does deliver an interesting movie that does have a lot of themes playing out during the movie, and I think thats its strength. While the movie is just an entreating Sci-Fi horror thriller it does show what it means to be a teenager in High School and all the characters in this movie play on those archetypes, and thats its strength. Im not afraid to admit that I like this movie and that I do think it is a bit underrated but it works better as an underground movie.
