The original had a better storyline. The whole global warming theme is getting overdone but this adds a somewhat new dimension. The acting was pretty good and Jennifer Connelly is always easy on the eyes. Kathy Bates character apparently couldn't think for herself which made her appear weak. John Cleese as the Professor was an amazingly excellent choice (why wasn't he in the movie more), adding his sophistication, charm and wit to his role.Reeves was excellent at portraying the "stiff" hero. He should have learned something from Michael Rennie in the original release. Overall a good movie best experienced on the big screen for sheer dramatic effect and scope.
