The Dark Knight: Review By Omikron
In order to manipulate the fears in others, you must first conquer your own fear...you are afraid, but not of the critic...tell us Mr. Nolan, what do you fear?

I cannot disagree that Heath Ledgers performance was nothing short of...twisted brillance. And the psycology of the film should haunt you for days to come. However, these two asspects dwarf any other of the movie. They leave audiences so petrified, that they can't notice anything else.
The second in his trilogoy, in my opinion, did not better his first in style and grace. The first was simply brilliant, emphasis on the "simply".
The story had great potential, and I must say it was virtually fulfilled. But the script lacked the subtle, delightful nods to the observant audience member, that were in the first.
This new Gotham, for that is all that I can call it, visualy did not match the darkness it was facing. Batman operates in the Dark, and one could argue he always did, then I would say "perhaps we didn't see enough of 'The Dark Night'". I also needed some tie to the old gotham from the first. I realise Wayne Tower, the rail system, the narrows, and Wayne Manior, were all destroyed, but showing one once, would have been enough to show that we are in same gotham. Filming the same Chicago backdrop, and underground streets, was not enough.
The music left me wanting. It felt like they didn't even hire Hans Zimmer to make new music that fit the scene, but rather copy and paste his old works into the new movie. Not to mention he didn't "paste" it into enough areas of the movie.
The Action sequences were up to what I would expect from Mr. Nolan. The effects alone were worth the price of two admission tickets. They would make anyone say "Heck, yeah!" (all be it, a bit more colorfully).
This was deffinately a spectacular movie, with the terrifing specticals leaving me wanting the simple pleasure of the first.
"Theatricality is (indeed) a powerful tool"
but...
