I haven't been a professial critic, just a man that apritiates movies, having my own observations to share, so here-we-go.
about the acters:
christian bale- He's a very cool batman , and is one of the best in the business, knows how to step into the role, check out 3:10 to yuma. There's plenty of vehicles to play with including a motor bike that brings to mind the cover of meat loaf's album cover, bat out of hell. Batman wrecksum all,the car crash king would be proud,-refer to the orig.gone in 60 secs. Michael keaton, still my favorite batman though, and that low talking stuff sounded better in the 1st movie with keaton ,they say in this one it's like a mixter between a grizzly bear and clint eastwood,I almost laughed when I heard a little brando, that much was the worst.
michael caine-the best alfred,a gentleman with fatherly advice that's looked after wayne for some time.
maggie gyllenhaal.- katie holmes was better,Maggie would make a great female joker, she's got that look like she just ate a grapefruit without sugar. I still like her in other movies though, better in "sherry baby".We don't get much in this from her, they had to make room for more explosions I guess. "She is beautiful."
arron eckhart- a fine actor as well ,liked the tommylee twoface better, what can I say, his was more like the comic book .Harvey Dent in this one was nolan's new view on the story, works well
morgan freeman-thanks to his character for the batsuit, batmobile, weaponry, and all that completes batman's attire.Freemon arrives with precison and the usual grace, always a treat.
gary oldman- a perfect choice,he can play almost anything, see him in true romance on dvd,a bonnie and clyde like movie of the 90s,now on dvd. I thought Gordan was dead, almost falling out of my seat,"we got you "! ,he said to the joker.
heath ledger- we lost a wonderful talent that we'll miss ,it's too bad they didn't give him more character story ,like jack's joker in the first bat movie. Showed jack's coming up from a small time hood, the killing bruce's parents, and onto becoming a big time ganster. He gave us a little song and dance,a hand buzzer that fried his dislikes like burnt chicken,a line a beauty products that put a smile on his customer's faces until they cracked, and no one did that laugh better than nickolson. Remember the lines--Go with a smile,we got a live one here, and so on. There's not many memorable lines like that in this one. I like when heath's joker showed us how to build a real bon fire, and sent us a message,..he has no intention on making peace with anybody, you think that, the joke's on you.Did you see the look on the man's face when joker told him about what he thinks about money,..he can care less about a business deal. There was a couple of payoffs like seeing him hang his head out the squad car like a dog escaped...my favorite scene. It was like watching the devil in a play, unbelievable!
You don't know much about this joker really, exept what you can imagine..let'see what was told to us.....he likes knives, blowing sh*t up,a master scemer,he's like a hundred ticks on batty's back, and he was abused as a child by a father that gave him the mile smile, other than that, they should have done more with the character. Heath could have worked with any thing they gave him. See him in Ned Kelly,a historic western. Could it be that joker's father was the real killer behind the unsolved black dalia case, the victom, she had a similar scar.Aaron E. was in that movie to. Remember this is the 1st time your seeing the joker in this series and we're told much of nothing,a very weak story about the parents and the scar. It's like the writers were home asleep while nolan and his crew were out building bombs. Personaly ,I believe the movie could have used more character .We see where the ridler and cat woman came from, in the past movies why not the joker. He pops up out of nowhere and the chase begins and continues, until batman puts him back in his box.
Yeah alright I can't expect a movie to be another movie,a batman to be the same,a batmobile to look like a batmobile instead of a tatical assalt battle axe bulldozer issued to the soldiers in irac,or a joker to look like jack's joker, or to look anything like tv's version,or the comic books.
What I can expect is dir.nolan most likely will break every rule when making a batman movie.
The thing with gordan ,didn't expect ,almost believed it . Harvey dent , a talk show almost spoiled that completely. Great movie ,it passes with a grin and a twist of an ending.See you at the next one ,same bat time ,same bat channel.
