This is one my favorite super hero movie to date. Not only is it visually beautiful, but it also has tremendous acting performances by each and every cast member. Christian Bale is the best Batman ever and Michael Caine is great as always as Alfred. One of the most underrated performances in this film are done by Gary Oldman who is just pure genius on creating a character that the whole audience can cheer for. Heath Ledger (God bless him) is amazing as the Joker who gives us a great and chilling performance this side of Hannibal Lector. It would be such an upset if he is not nominated for an Academy award. The best film of the year by far.

Ashley you summed it up perfect. No lengthy review for people and it gets right to the point. I agree that Gary Oldman gave a standout performance, he is the heart of this movie. Gordon is more like Gordon in the comix this time around.
