I am one of the followers of the hype viral marketing campaign of the movie. And I like what I saw, I want more. Never has a movie been marketed in such an aggressive way that everybody seems to be talking about it. And guess what? It works. I'm so into it since 3 months before the movie premieres, and you can say, that I'm obsessed by it. And after a long wait, it finally pays off.
I can finally say, after the buzz and the hype surrounding the movie, that this movie is a MASTERPIECE. The acting, directing, writing, editing, and production is superior in every level. It is obviously comparable to Heat, The Departed, and the Godfather. The plot and characters are complex and multi layered. It is interesting to examine why we need a hero/symbol to aspire, or how do we make moral an ethical choices in our lives in the society, and how fragile we are as a group.
Let's talk about the main attraction: The Joker. Well, Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar for that. I've never been so mesmerized by a character like that. He's ruthless, remorseless, and so abstract in a peculiar way. He's constantly changing. And (sadly), he delivers his full final performances in such a way that he defines the whole movie. After The Joker, I'm sure he will be remembered (in a good way) by the fans.
The cast did their job superbly. Christian Bale portrays the tormented soul in his search for an end for his crusade as the dark knight. Aaron Eckhart gives a tantalizing performances. And if you think the trailers sold you on the plot, well, guess again.
TDK is, by far, the best movie I've seen in years. The question is, how can they top this?
