I finally got to watch this awesome movie. I've been interested, ever-since my, last semester, art teacher told me about this. She has a big poster on her wall, and I was already interested. A few friends of mine told me how awesome this movie is, so I watched it when I was in that action-drama mood. This is the first movie I've seen with Brandon Lee, which is his last film. Brandon Lee sustained an accidental gunshot wound on the set of the film. I found this out, after I watched the movie. I was wondering why this was his last film. Anyway, I think this is one of the best revenge movies I have ever seen. The film is filled with a lot of action, drama, romance, and darkness.

A poetic guitarist Eric Draven is brought back to life by a crow a year after he and his fiancée are murdered. The crow guides him through the land of the living, and leads him to his killers: knife thrower Tin-tin, drugetic Funboy, car buff T-Bird, and the unsophisticated Skank. One by one, Eric gives these thugs a taste of their own medicine. However their leader Top-Dollar, a world-class crime lord who will dispatch his enemies with a Japanese sword and joke about it later, will soon learn the legend of the crow and the secret to the vigilante's invincibility.

The film is not underrated. So many people praised the film. I'm surprised to see that some of the most well-know users on here, has not seen it yet. Or maybe you've seen it and haven't rated it. 'The Crow' has a great fantasy story, showing a dead man's anger of the death of his fiancée. To put things together, take 'The Punisher' and 'Kill Bill', put them together, and you have one dark action-packed thriller. Brandon Lee was the perfect choice of his role. The accent, the tone, and the stunts shows him, that he is his father's son (Bruce Lee).

The action, in this film, is topnotch. The shootouts and the explosions are so awesome, that it makes John Woo jealous. Cause I love shootouts when there's just paper flying around, sparks shooting, slow-mo stunts, and fully-armed people everywhere. That's the best way to have an awesome shootout. My favorite scene of the film is when he killed T-Bone in a car explosion and symbolized that he was here by burning gasoline, in the shape of a crow. Just truly epic. And you'll love the score by Graeme Revell. I love one of those dramatic rock-operas in movies like these. This is not a rock-opera, but my favorite is 'Pain and Retribution'. It's one of the themes of the movie, and it was also used in the original theatrical trailer.

The visual effect are pretty cool for it's year, I mean, you had 'Jurassic Park' two years back, and everybody is like 'Holy crap, that's realistic!'. The visual effects get's pretty awesome at times, like how they done the miniature city very well. The film's budget was $15,000,000 and to tell you the truth, the film does looks like it costs higher, so of course they did a great job. Awesome VFX work! As I said on my last review of 'Das Boot' miniature is my favorite visual effect technique.

The movie is a film adaptation of the 1989 comic book of the same name by James O'Barr. I never knew that it was based on a comic, bud I'm pretty sure that it was an epic book, because this film sure was. If ya'll haven't seen this movie, then I highly recommend this film to you, it's extremely worth watching. no time wasted! Great superhero film, great story, great cast, you need to see this film if you're an action lover or a superhero lover! Oh and did I mention that it was called one of the best of the 90's? remember, the 90's had the best films. I need to hit the hay, so see yah and thanks for reading.

R.I.P. Brandon Lee

In 1995, Graeme Revell won a BMI film music award for his score and the Stone Temple Pilots won the MTV Movie Award for Best Song for "Big Empty". Also at the MTV Movie Awards, the film was nominated for Best Film and Brandon Lee was nominated for Best Male Performance. The film received four Saturn Award nominations from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA, for Best Costumes, Best Director, Best Horror film and Best Special Effects.

@ensigndesign I thought Iron Man was fantastic. I loved it. Robert Downey Jr. gave a great performance that was Oscar worthy. I would like to hear your thoughts on Sherlock Holmes

Nice review Block! I enjoyed it, and while miniature isn't my favorite practical effect, it is useful at times, when used correctly. Glad to see you got around to seeing this.

P.S. While I too haven't read the GN, I've heard it was good by some and okay by others. It might have been like A History of Violence, where the film is critically superior to the source material.
