I was never a big fan of George A. Romero's 1973 horror film the crazies I thought it had an interesting story but thats about it I did like this remake it was an entreating film from start to finish and it was actually better than I thought it would be. To be honest I think that this was a movie that needed to be remade because it never was that good of a movie in the first place, and because it was remade the movie was much better than the original. The plot of the movie was pretty simple its your basic Sheriff in a small town caught in the middle of a situation thats beyond his control and doing his best to survive and save others that he knows. The one thing I did notice while I was watching this was that the movie is kind of like the Dawn of the Dead remake its a big action/horror film and thats probably why it was good. The casting in the movie was great Timothy Olphant and Radha Mitchell are two of the most underrated actors in hollywood and both give great performances but I think its Joe Anderson who steals the movie with a strong performance as Timothy's Deputy. The one thing I liked and notice about the movie was that they gave all these characters moments that might make you think if there infected now some of these characters did and some didn't but I think they should of taken advantage of the ones who didn't because it would of made the movie a little more interesting. The movie is a fun thrill ride horror film that is done right it doesn't take itself to serious and it doesn't try to out do itself and its a perfect movie to see on a friday night sure the plot of the film is unoriginal but it was fun and thats its advantage and its really a much better version of that crappy film called the Happening.
