This time around – Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their pesky cousin Eustace Scrubb – find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the very edges of the world. Joining forces once again with their royal friend Prince Caspian and the warrior mouse Reepicheep, they are whisked away on a mysterious mission to the Lone Islands, and beyond. On this bewitching voyage that will test their hearts and spirits, the trio will face magical Dufflepuds, sinister slave traders, roaring dragons and enchanted merfolk. Only an entirely uncharted journey to Aslan’s Country – a voyage of destiny and transformation for each of those aboard the Dawn Treader – can save Narnia, and all the astonishing creatures in it, from an unfathomable fate.

The dragon is good, we really liked him and so refreshing not to have a dragon as a villain. Some of the other story twists are good as related in the book.
I liked the 1940s clothes and settings and I liked the Narnian clothes and settings even more.
One of the best bits is the character of Eustace who starts out with a wry humour and a critical intelligence. Once Aslan gets at him he becomes boring and pious. But you can't blame the film for that it's in the book.
If you really like fantasy and you like Narnia you'll like this. If not think about it.
Perhaps both the best and the worst come from the original Lewis story because the film is faithful to it.
That means Aslan is as stuffy and pompous as ever but makes a great fluffy toy. Girls are definitely pre-feminist longing to be pretty above all things. Action is fun but not gripping.
One thing that really bothered me was that there are animal characters but apart from the mouse and the lion the story is carried entirely by humans. Animals firmly in support roles but I guess that's Christian stuff.
Controversy is being whipped up on whether Lewis' Narnia should be allowed to carry a Christian message. Of course it should be allowed any message it likes bar the obvious not promoting child abuse etc If you don't like Christianity you won't6 like the values in this but that's the risk the film and the book takes. They're free to include them though even if it does slightly pull the work downward.
Have a lighthearted evening in a fantasy land where girls are feminine and boys clash swords, a dragon is heroic and realistic, and there's a big fluffy lion. Just don't take it seriously.

@POTC: Disney was the financier, nothing more. The film's production was entirely handled by Walden Media and Sony Weta, and still is. The only real change affecting this movie is the switch of Andrew Adamson to Producer and Michael Apted to director. If you ask me, it's a change for the better.

Awesome! "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" was awesome, and "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" was just as good, if not better, so this I wait for with much anticipation! I haven't read "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Final Battle," yet, though, but I'm sure it's as awesome as the first six books were. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is on my most anticipated list, most definitely. 2010 you are a year that brings me great anticipation, for you offer me "Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland," as well as "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader!!!!!" You cannot come fast enough!!!!!

I totally can't wait to see this movie because of the fact that they will be going to the end of the earth as if it where flat kinda like pirates of the caribbean 3 where they go to the end of the earth to find captain jack sparrow in davy jones locker!. But in this movie the end of the earth has a bigger part in the movie!.
