Well its an election year and politics are at an all time high. Ads are spewing everywhere basically if you own a television chances are you have seen an Ad. Well i got news for you. After you see "The Campaign" you will never look at another ad the same way again. Political comedies ..well political movies in general are a tough sell. I really have enjoyed a few political comedies over the past few years. I really loved Jack Lemon & James Garner in "My Fellow American" and i loved Chris Farley's "Black Sheep" (which that could be taken as just a regular comedy). My point is most political related films are not entertaining or there boring. Well the Campaign is the exact opposite. This film boasts great performances from Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. Probably one of there best to date. Thanks to the incredible writing staff the cast actually has good material to work with. Within the first 10mins i was assured this was gonna be a satirical film. Jay Roach, director of Meet the Parents and the beloved Austin Power films, has brought to life the true talents of this comedic actors. Anyone who loves Ferrell and has seen his other work will love this film and others whom can't stand him can still find enjoyment from Galifianakis performance as well. Not since The first Hangover has Zach truly been on top of his game. After this film he has truly made a name for himself.

Story: (4/5) - Ferrell is playing his Bush-persona Camden "Cam" Brady running for North Carolina's 14th district un-opposed. But his image is ruined when hehas an affair with a local resident. Next comes Marty Huggins (Galifianakis) the tourism director of the town of Hammond. Appointed to run for congress against Cam Brady.

Story: (4/5) - This is probably one of the best political comedies i've seen. I think never has there been this much potential in the film. The best thing about the story is, if you have seen the trailer or ads on tv, the first thing to understand that they show you nothing in the trailers. The marketing behind this movie has hold back all the best jokes and saved them for this movie. At first i truly question this films R rating it just did not make sense to me, but then i saw the movie and realized this film earns its rating the trailers and ads just did not show any of its R rated humor and that is what made the movie better was because there were so many ways this films went that i thought it would never go. Another thing, most films are afraid to touch on certain subjects (sweat shops, 9/11) This film actually touched on real issues the economy and the united states is having and that is what makes it so smarter than most comedies. Acting: (4.5/5) - Some of the best performances this year and possible of there careers. Zach Galfiankis and Will Ferrell are paired up perfectly whomever thought of putting this two head to head in a political comedy was pure genius this film truly can not miss. Directing: (4/5) - I have always been a fan of Jay Roach ever since Meet The Parents his been one of my favorites. Directing Austin Powers and Meet The Fockers. He knows what to do with the talent in front of him.

Overall: (4/5) Thanks to the outrageous performances by Ferrell and Galifianakis. The Campaign is the perfect film for an election year. Its brand of humor is perfect & there is so much to see here. Its an unforgettable comedy that will stay in your mind all year. Although at times it seems this movie gets to serious and you begin to question why you are seeing this movie. But the final product was well more than i wanted it to be. I had a certain level of expectation for this movie. My expectations rose a little bit when i saw the R rating instead of the (what i thought would be PG13). Its a gem and from punching babies to getting bit by a venomous snake. The gags in this movie are priceless and like i said with it being an election year this film could not have came any sooner. To be honest im getting tired of seeing everything about our presidential campaign's. This film truly sets the bar. Because both politicians portrayed in this film say alot of things that are dumb and it makes my laugh more because in real life alot of this politicians say alot of dumb things. Thanks to CNN and MSNBC and all the other tv programs in this film that made me feel like i was watching an actual election. I truly enjoyed the Campaign for what it was trying to be and nothing else. Nonetheless i was not let down and for the most part truly impressed.

B+
