The Box: Review By Fallenlords

The concept of this film was interesting, the acting was fair, the cast decent and there is no reason on this earth that this film shouldn't have worked. So why didn't it work, well because it didn't have an explained ending of any sort. Surely by now film makers must realize that people like the basic story concept. A beginning, a middle and an end. Now they are even quite adaptable and these things can be mixed up but it really 'has' to contain those components to fly for most. This ends, but doesn't have an end. No explanation as to what you have been watching at all, which makes an otherwise interesting film become total mush. Up until the end I would have rated this film highly, I was interested I wanted to know what would happen. I was piecing together my own interpretation of events and what it was all about. Waiting in anticipation for the finale, when everything would be explained and I would know if I was right or wrong.

Left not knowing might work for some films, but for this it's infuriating and actually insulting. I don't think they knew how to end the film, I don't think they ever had an ending. They had a concept based on a short story that they tried to spin out into a feature film. Score prior to the ending would have been around 4.0, if the ending had been superb it could of hit a top score. But no ending reduces the points on this in dramatic fashion. Don't bother watching this even if you like Cameron Diaz or Frank Langella it terrible, leading you on a journey that goes nowhere. Don't waste you time on this at all.
