The Box: Review By SCREENWRITER

Alright, I just saw the new Cameron Diaz flick "The Box" that some people have actually been quite excited about. I must tell you this now before you see it, DON'T! There are many reasons to why this movie is a complete waste of time. MANY! I to was looking forward to seeing this movie when it first had a trailer for it back in I don't remember when. But, I still wanted to see this and last night [the first night] I did see this. The movie takes you on a confusing journey of a couple that makes no sense what-so-ever. The movie will not scare you or entertain you...it will have you laughing at how dumb and pointless most of it is. "You are the experiment". The experiment was to see how bad a movie can get and how much a person can hate it. THE BOX is a definate skip. Please, don't spend your money on this. See THE FOURTH KIND...that's a movie that I can promise greatness out of.

PLOT:

The plot of the movie from the trailers makes this movie look so simple. Here's the plot:

A couple recieves a BOX from a man who gives them a hard choice. If they push the button someone they don't know will die but they will receive one million dollars. Sounds simple and easy to follow?

SPOILERS:

Alright, that part of this movie is literally only like the first 30 minutes of this. After that it leaves the main plot and starts a confusing and jumping journey of the couple that didn't make any sense to me. The MAIN plot was alright but seeing the movie you'll see that it just jumps around and tries to confuse by putting idiotic scenes into the movie. I don't know who wrote this movie but they didn't make the movie make sense in any way possible.

ACTING:

Eh, the acting in the movie kind of stunk. Cameron Diaz, a great actress, kind of dissapointed me. Not only was she in this but her character was just a meh. I hated her Virginia accent and the way she played her role. The whole foot thing with her character was beyond pointless to the film and I must say, I didn't really like any character or performence in this. James Marsden, an alright guy, does a pretty eh just as well. I think he did better than DIAZ in this but still and as for Frank Langella, I hated his character and the way he had that JOHN KRAMER-ish feel to him. I don't know, I just didn't really care too much for the movies acting.

DIRECTING:

The directing of this movie wasn't too bad. I liked how it was all classy and stuff. The way the movie looked was probably the best thing about it. I don't mean the visuals, I just mean the classy sets and stuff like that.

VISUALS:

The visuals were okay but as the movie went on I couldn't help that from seeing the visuals I couldn't tell if this movie a horror, action, drama, or science fiction. The visuals were okay...definatly nothing speical.

THE GOOD:

The movie had maybe one or two interesting scenes for me but other than that this is a beyond horrible movie.

THE BAD:

Must I mention all of this again? I'll just sum this up. This movie is confusing, pointless, and makes no sense at all! The acting was kind of bad and the plot was terrible.

OVERALL:

OVERALL, a major skip. PLEASE, I'll say it again, PLEASE don't go out and watse your money on this movie. I beg of you don't. This movie is absoutly terrible. It will leave you with plenty of questions. Questions you don't want to have in your head. So, I'll say it again: PLEASE SKIP THIS! This movie is right up there with THE UNBORN being one of the worst movies of 2009.
