The Book of Eli depicts an Armageddon theme as the background. The movie is directed by the famed Hughes Brothers and stars Academy Award Winner Denzel Washington, Academy Award Winner Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis .It has been 30 years since the war on earth. All books were destroyed including the bible. Everything was destroyed. There was nothing, no food, none of the luxuries that we take advantage of today. However, there is one lone survivor, Eli, played by Denzel Washington, who has in his possession the only bible. The King James Version bible. He drifts west to carry out what he was told to do. During his journey, Eli runs into trouble in a small town controlled by Carnegie. Carnegie has been searching for this book because the book, "holds the power." Carnegie, the villain played by Gary Oldman, who got down and dirty with his role, reading a Mussolini biography when introduced in the film, the limping, the bad skin, the savvy lines. Carnegie finds out that Eli has the book. Eli met an acquaintance, a town sweetie, Solara, played by Mila Kunis, who at first did not understand about "walking in faith". Theres one scene where Eli and Solara are in a gun battle. Eventually, Eli carries out his mission, with interference from the Carnegie and his men. Denzel played a peaceful man of faith merely an image of his own natural charisma. The Hughes Brothers leaped out with this religious faith, which is very bold to do in Hollywood. I think this is a great movie that everyone will enjoy. The cast, the director, the writers, the set, and the lines delivered by Oldman and Washington were sensational.
