The Black Dahlia is a murder mystery that has corruption and scandal but it tries to be something its not. At first I thought it was great that Brian De Plama would be returning to the film noir genre and would also be brining a great book into a movie but the movie was just bad. The book was great and the movie does follow the book very well but the execution to every thing that was going on in the film was just unwatchable. The only thing I can say positive about this movie was that it started out very promising but by the time you get to the Dahlia murder it starts to go down hill. The movie was far to predictable and the climax was very poorly done. Every thing about the way the film was directed is classic De Plama but the way he told the story threw his directing was very unique but at the same time I felt that I was watching a remake of Chinatown and North buy Northwest even the music sounds like its from North buy Northwest. The only good performances were done buy Scarlett Johansson and Aaron Eckhart I didn't think Josh was bad but he wasn't good either. If you want to see the movie just read the book but if you want to see a good De Palma film noir thriller watch Blow Out or Snake Eyes.
