The Adjustment Bureau is a romantic thriller in other words it's a sci-fi movie for girls. Matt Damon is a man running for senate, which is his dream career until he meets a woman whom he falls in love with but he wasn't supposed to so men in hats try to stop it from happening.

The movie brings up a couple of issues. The first is "free will" versus destiny. His fate is to be without her, but he can choose to use his free will to be with her. He finds out that if he does, there will be consequences. The second issue is about deciding which is more important: one's dream career or being in love with someone.

The Adjustment Bureau is trying to adjust things so that everything goes according to The Plan but it seems that people do have free will despite their fate. The agents deal mostly with probability points where if certain events happen, people will make decisions that can be predicted, which is how the agents adjust people's lives in order to fulfill The Plan. So people aren't really being controlled but they are placed in situations where the agents can predict the decisions that people will make.

I liked that the movie worked in a balance of both things. The flirting scenes between Matt Damon & Emily Blunt were funny & cute. His concession speech was also really good. As a New Yorker I enjoyed seeing how it was all filmed on location. There is some really good writing in this movie; I'm surprised it didn't do better.
