The story was great. It started out pretty stereotypical for the terminator series, with the whole machines boning the humans in every way, so at first, I felt I was just watching the same terminator movie all over again. BUT! The story quickly picked up with the inclusion of Marcus and his whole cyborg theme. Marcus is what saved the story, adding a fresh new element TO the element of man and machine. The machine CHOOSING FOR HIMSELF what side he wanted to fight on was like a breath of fresh air for the franchise. And don't bring up John and the T-800 in T2 and 3, okay? The T-800s were programmed to protect John, so that doesn't count. Also, I loved the inclusion of the T-600, the creation of the T-800's, the new, never-before-seen skynet mechs, and Schwarzenegger's cameo (STFU I don't care if it was CG, it was still awesome).
And the acting was good, but it kinda felt the same throughout the whole movie. I need a little more ups and downs, please. It was rather monotone.
And that also falls into the directing category, concerning McG. Most of his choices for this movie were excellent, but he should've paid attention to the acting a little more.
And then, what McG does best, the special effects. You could easily tell this was his work, and the effects were done flawlessly. Excellent work.
So now I look forward to the next movie. The war isn't over yet, and now we'll have things like sending Kyle Reese back to the past, the T-1000s, and the TXs to cover. Keep it up, McG, you're on a role! In other words, don't screw it up, you've got something good here.
