Because it's basically a Family Guy movie there were plenty of sex jokes and of course a fist fight between John & Ted. There were also tons of pop culture references that many in my audience did not get so you should be familiar with Flash Gordon, Mommie Dearest & Van Wilder. There were more references but I don't remember them now. There was one fart joke that might have worked as a cartoon but with live actors it seemed incredibly stupid & unrealistic (even in a movie with a magic bear), it was the only bad part of the movie, the rest was really funny.

The cgi was great. He looked like a toy teddy bear and interacted with things seamlessly. He had facial expressions that weren't very far off from the expressionless toy bear.

The girlfriend seemed to abruptly switch gears just before the end of the movie but then I remembered that John had been dating Lori for over 4 years when the movie begins so obviously she was friends with Ted for 4 years. When you consider that, her behavior is perfectly reasonable.

I was wondering how they would address the media knowing about a living toy bear & I think they did it well by treating Ted as a former child-celebrity who people mostly forgot about. I also liked that the movie made it clear that it was magic from the beginning. It was nice seeing young John with his bear friend & watching them grow up. The movie tried to have a few touching moments sprinkled though out all the R-rated humor. I think it had the right amount of dirty humor, love story & bromance.
