A garantee "Tour De Force" for any war movie geek!
There are so many war movies that you might say: "Whats new whit this one? What is different?"
The only movie that comes close to this one would be "Saving Private Ryan".
Saving was an extremly well done movie and also a touch of family feeling.
The difference of Brotherhood is the situation:
The Political situation and one Ideoligy which has divided the Korean peninsula since 1945!
Brotherhood of War is a higly compeling story, set in the 1950`s during the Korean war.
Dong-Kun Jang plays the older brother with an amazing tallent.
The movie shows the true horrors of cold war battles.
The story is well written and heartwarming.
Showing the strong bound between two brothers trying to survive.
There time in the army is sett with a team that Dong-Kun Jang leads, and it`s no peace of cake.
Cause when it isnally "dinner" time they get caught up again.
As they are getting bombed one of the guys tries to keep his rice ball clean and try to eat it (a tiny bit of humour in the midst of war is always apreciated).
There is so much brutality in this movie that you might ask yourself what you remember the most?
For me it was the team member with worms sticking out from his wounded stomach. Who said war was pretty?
But there is something that really got me, a little bit more then just the amazing acting: The Music.
It`s an incredible beutifull sad music, played perfectly with sertan events! (I am still trying to find the soundtrack for this movie)
The movie builds up a good feel good feeling between the two brothers and the family...
Untill the war breaks out, cause when that happens you kinda get a slight chill and starts to think "Oh no, will they die now? These guys are so charismatic and have such a happy family".
The tension builds up and ends up in tons off explosions.
It`s a Extremly well played war movie with a tipp of sadness.
It´s sad that this movie havn`t been more talked about in the West, cause it`s a Saving Private Ryan with a tipp of Amazing Korean tallent.
