"The Mist," the story about a group of people trapped in a grocery store while a thick eerie mist is covering their whole town and killing everyone outside, is a great adaptation to one of Stephen King's books and it stays true to the horror genre! THIS is what a horror movie should be in order to make it suspenseful! I've never read ANY of Stephen King's books, but this movie made me a fan of his now, and I should maybe read some of his books sometime...AND see his movies!

STORY: This movie does look like it's going to be a copycat of "The Fog" at first, but when you watch the movie, you'll see that the storyline is NOT cheesy at all. Instead, you find the storyline quite interesting and really good to follow. That's what I thought when I saw this movie! The plot for this movie is a LOT better than that piece of garbage remake "The Fog!" The movie's plot stays true to the horror genre and it really is jumpy and scary, and NOT dumb and stupid like "The Fog" was! Thank god!

ACTING: The acting in this movie is excellent! Thomas Jane is not in many movies I know of, but he sure is a big-time actor and I enjoyed his performance! The other actors/actresses in this movie I actually do not know or never heard of, but they also did great as well! I had no problem with the acting whatsoever!

DIRECTING: I loved Frank Darabont's directing to the film! He's an awesome director who also directed "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile," two other movies based-on-stories from Stephen King and two of my favorite movies of all-time! Even though many people hated this movie because of the disappointing ending, I actually liked, just a little, of the new changed ending Frank thought of if he was going to make the movie dark with no normal ending! He actually did make the ending shocking and unexpecting indeed, and I'm actually giving him credit for that! I still enjoyed his directing to the film, and I hope he makes more movies based on Stephen King's books in the future! If I hear news, then I can't wait!

VISUALS: Now here is what a horror movie should have in order to make it suspenseful: BLOOD and GORE! The blood and gore this movie had was great and it never bored me at all! Not only was the bloody gore jaw-dropping, but the CGI on the bugs and creatures were AWESOME as well! The bugs and creatures looked cool and graphic like it really was happening during the quiet-and-jumpy scenes! I LOVED the visuals in this movie! Both the bloody gore and the bug/creature CGI!

OVERALL: This is definitely a worth-watching horror movie that I recommend to those who loved this movie like I did! Now I gave this a 4.5 because the ending was indeed a little disappointing, but it was still a shocking surprise! My first rating was actually a 4, but to prove that I loved this movie a LOT than "The Fog" and that this was indeed a great suspenseful bloody/gory movie, I gave it a 4.5! I believe this is a great adaptation to one of the books from Stephen King and I am now becoming a fan of his! Like I said before, I should read some of his books and see his movies sometime! Because of the excellent acting, great directing, awesome visuals, interesting story, and even the shocking ending this movie has, I highly recommend this to everyone! I still don't have the DVD yet, but I will get it sometime in April! See this movie now!
