J.J. Abrams once again works his magic and gives a classic series another accolade. Star Trek is a 100 mile a minute awe fest that never lets up. From its action packed opening to its thrilling bookend Star Trek is a hell of a ride.

The story is a setup of the early years of the Enterprise crew and how the team came together. The film is outstanding. It brings a satisfying palette of action, great acting, great directing, a compelling story and special effects that will wow you. The cast is filled out with an array of young talent. Some are new and others are quite recognizable. Taking over for William Shatner in the Kirk role is actor Chris Pine. Who, no doubt will be rocketed into stardom with this release. Joining Pine and giving a fantastic performance as the wise Spock is Zachary Quinto. He is known famously for his role on NBC’s Heros. The cast is complimented with such actors as Eric Bana portraying the revenge hungry Nero, Bruce Greenwood as Capt. Pike, Simon Pegg as the legendary Scotty and Zoe Saldana as the sensational Nyota Uhura as well as some surprising faces.

The action and visual effects are through the roof. The scenes in space give an almost simulation feel. You can’t help but feel the solitude and beauty of the empty back drop. You want some amazing action? Star Trek delivers that on an almost minute by minute basis. Holding onto your seat is recommended.

Star Trek is the film you hope to get when you sit down in your seat waiting for it to begin and more. This film deserves all its praise and all the glory. This is one hell of a summer ride. Repeat viewing is mandatory. So, sit back and get ready to be beamed to a world of wonder and adventure that is Star Trek.
