"Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" left me very sad. Spock, dead? I have to admit, it was a very fitting death for him, saving his friends. But...tears!
"Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" ended kind of bizarrely. Okay, so Spock's alive again, and seems to somehow remember Kirk. And then? So I was more than ready for the next one.
And boy did it deliver! So many crazed fans aren't able to separate Leonard Nimoy from his character Spock, but this movie should've helped. Nimoy's wit and charm come through in his directing. (Need another example? Personally, I'd recommend "Three Men and a Baby.")
The film was light-hearted when appropriate, and yet still reminded us that the great crew of the Enterprise was usually our last hope. Language was a little rough, but hey, it was the mid-80's, I can forgive that. Overall, once you've seen it you'll understand why it's almost always counted as the top favorite amongst Star Trek fans. I know it will always have a very very special place in my heart!
