Not as good as First Contact but better than Generations, Insurrection is a fun and action-packed Trek film that muses on time, technology, and property. Picard and crew are familiarly rebellious and I found their insurrection to be compelling and sometimes fun. It's nice to see Riker's command abilities in Picard's absence, and Data learns how to have fun. There is a healthy dose of humor and some softer moments of character (particularly Geordi gaining sight for the first time). The plot is quite good, focusing on the tension that comes with duty or morality when a federation conspiracy is unveiled. As with First Contact Jerry Goldsmith is back as composer, which is a good thing. This would have been a much better finale to the Next Generation crew than the awful Nemesis that followed.
