I rented this movie expecting a bizarre, twisted tale of conjoined twins and the physcological trauma they experience at the thought of being separated. Well, unfortunately that isn't what I got.

This movie is based on a former (of the same name) movie that was written and directed back in 1973 by Brian de Palma as his first "ode to Hitchc*ck".

Chloe Sevigny (American Psycho) plays Grace Hollier, a newspaper reporter who's trying to get information on Dr. Phillip LaCong (spelling?), played by Stephen Rea (V for Vendetta). Grace knows that this so-called psychiatrist was involved in at least 2 murders, but is looking for evidence to prove it. We are shown short, confusing, flashbacks of Grace's childhood in order to learn that she is somehow personally invested in putting this man in jail.

Newcomer Lou Doillon plays Angelique and Annabelle Turner, the twins, whom the doctor is treating with an experimantal drug. Grace meets Angelique and tries to enlist her help in her quest to put the bad doctor away.

This is a story of what can happen when conjoined twins face the prospect of separaton, along with the good/bad sister plot. Although an intruiging subject, this film was slow, confusing, and boring. Not enough time was spent developing any of the characters, which for me, meant that I didn't care what happened to them. Towards the end of the movie, things start to come together and make some sense, but the ending was not satisfying.

Not alot to say on the directing/visuals. I am not familiar with any prior work from director Douglas Buck, and the visuals were neither good or bad. The acting was okay. I expected alot more from Chloe Sevigny, and in this role her acting was flat and lacked depth, and she looked half asleep and/or tranquilized most of the time.

Maybe the 1973 version is better, but as far as this movie goes, I cannot recommend it.
