Sex And The City does right on the big screen by not sacrificing anything that made it work on TV. The script and cast are great, and the movie is every bit as clever as the show, and every bit as smart as the haters would like to deny. It's a stylish and sexy film, to be sure, but what really makes it worthwhile is in how authentic the relationship is between the four women. Aside from being a bit bloated at 2 hours and 20 minutes, it's a strong film, and a great summer blockbuster for those less inclined toward explosions.

As a continuation/adaptation of the show, it works. While most fans agree that the show ended perfectly, they'll probably be okay with how the movie ends. Barring a few directions they take a couple of characters, the film plays pretty safe, and should satisfy fans.

As a romantic comedy (ignoring the following and the legacy), it's one of the best I've seen in a while.
