Saw: Review By Bane. Ferguson
An idea that has evolved into something big, huge and manic. This may be a strong horror film in itself but more recent more modern and hated sequels are on much better form, having found its footing after all these years.

During the procession of the years there has been over 7 saw films or more i have lost count, but it all started from the mind of James Wan. This concept of a game, to severe to mutilate yourself, take chances, propel yourself head first into this GAME. All the while a crafted wooden puppet directing orders, an iconic gruff guttural voice. Here is a horror that has affected the film industry as with SCREAM, in which this conceptually aligned with. A new fresh take on horror using the best in both categories, the gore, the tension. This film is scripted by Leigh Whannell as with the other two films, but didn't wish to stay on for the rest of the tiresome duration. As with Scream they got the drift and stopped until they succ*mbed to a good idea, a subtext story that would fit. Here the box office grew hungry for more, so they charm-well not in the least charming are these films-but the Sharp contrasting-the stories-the contraptions-the games, the tension, this allegory of great smart meticulous smarmy writing and directing, followed by Guff. But this is one good one, a great beginning, but i as i am don't take horror into my stride and look at it and find fault, but i do love a bloodbath, unoriginal trash, as horror has been reduced into that.
Two opposing characters find themselves chained in a, possibly a public lavatory, dirty, rusted, and they are not in a situation to bicker or fight or have a friendly get together or solid introductory handshakes because as soon as the clock stops JIGSAW the creepily suited puppet will unleash hell, putting them through their steps. one is a typical round the house party enthusiast and another a Doctor, refined, slim, slick, vastly in the know. But this Doctor will be put to the test. Along these lines someone is watching these individuals home life, listening, programming, also a top cop played by the aging Danny Glover gunning for this murderous scoundrel.
The tricks, the schemes, the vastness of where it goes, the twists, the utter pure twists, sublimely done. James Wan isn't very much with the tactics of filming horror here, his footing slowly slotting into the holder. It sometimes in the duration is adamant about where it wishes to go!
But here its new its fresh, James baby that has now Been evolved and built upon, you can complain, but here I'll judge this film as a horror, as i see it.
It is a vastly expansive film and throughout i have come off as positive but it has its flaws in not knowing the tone and context, some sequences seem straight out of a Wes Craven Scream film or sometimes its here its now its in your face new!!!
The film score has impacted this film a dozen, its dark, ominous but sadly Charlie Clouser career spans from just Saw films.
Wan after bailing out and turning up on many other studio doors allowed this concept to be played with, along with being loved and cared for!!! With many directors taking the helm training their hands at it, some working better than others but throughout all Saw films have the same daftness and stupidity, some have a great form or format, and i must confess i prefer some of the more resent to this, but all in its own you can judge them all individually and pick and choice what aspects you love.

@dan1 @moviegeek i have to differ, if i may? Many of the newest and modern have more of a streak, a link, a tone i think fits perfectly.

I thought the first was good. It didn't cop out with copious amounts of blood and cheap thrills, and I loved the twist at the end with him getting up after you thought he was dead the entire movie. It's all the sequels I took issue with...
Great review.

I didn't even like the original, but it WAS far, far better than the waste of time sequels. Good review.
