The story is gritty, not just entertaining action, but a real plot to it, the action and superb acting is just gravy. And part of this film is that although most the action probably isn't, it does actually look real, not just Angelina Jolie flying about on a wire in front of a green screen.
Liev Schreiber pulls off an excellent performance as Ted Winter who you might know from X men origins wolverine and Repo men, I knew he couldn't stay as the good guy, all the way through this movie. I think for 2 American actors that are not Russian, and don't speak Russian, when Salt and Winter have their final explaining the plot conversation completely in Russian, for one they have no idea what their saying so I thought they sounded excellent. I don't speak Russian so I might be wrong, they might have sounded like robots I don't know.
The story is excellent, there may be constant action throughout but with every punch and gun shot there is always a reason for it. From the trailers you get the impression it's just another ridiculous action film with pointless lines, unrealistic characters and constant explosions. But it's not, it's so much more than that. From the very beginning when you see salt and Winter come face to face with Kim Jong Il (The leader of North Korea) you realise how politically correct this film is going to be. As it goes on it uncovers more and more layers that you would think complicate things and make the plot messy but everything seems to fit so well.
The acting is real, directing is brilliant, the visuals are great, I give salt 4.5, worth seeing a second time Stoned stars.

@TheStonedReviewer there is hardly any , but when there is it is superbly used, not for mere greatness and pointlessness but an added bonus to bring life to it and realism that shes actually doing this.
