Outstanding movie. A movie that helped to redefine science fiction and solidify its dominance in cinema history. Robocop captivated my mind and it helped me to view science fiction in a whole new way.

The story-a nearly dead police officer is remade into a cyborg programmed to take down crime in the city of crime riddled detroit, only to find himself trying to find out who he is. An excellent approach to a machine with feelings. That really helped to connect with the audience. The very concept of a cyborg trying to find out who he was is ingenious. With a nice blend of action and drama, this was a scifi in which we could actually feel towards the main character. Excellent job.

The acting-Peter Weller does a great job portraying the title character, conveying his emotions yet acting as a machine at the same time. Marvelous. His voice also helps to reestablish that, being in the same monotone as he conveys his mysterious character. Kurtwood Smith as the crime boss Clarence Boddicker does a great job as well, playing a drug, money crazed man. The rest of the cast does well in helping to portray a city on the verge of being brought down by crime.

The directing-Paul Verhoeven's biggest moment. I have to say, this movie defined him as a great director and one that really uses story. He wraps the story around every element in the movie and brings forth a great film.

The visuals-the visual effects are great for that time period and it really shows how far visual effects had come. The Ed-209 could have been more convincing however if more time had been taken in the stop motion process. The cinematography is good, it helps to convey each character's emotions and it does well in conveying a crime riddled detroit. There is one shot in the movie which i loved is when Robocop stops one of clarence's henchmen from getting away after he had robbed and set fire to a gas station. The shot shows robocop walking towards the broken down henchman and the camera angle puts him in the center, and looking down. Symbolism in that shot-robocop is far superior to the henchman and the flaming gas station behind him, shown behind him in that shot, shows that he is very angry. Great shot.

Overall, the movie was great and I know that this scifi classic will live on for many years to come.

@Ilikepie202 the "terrible visuals" are dated yes, but terrible- you gotta be joking- i get you may be a 16 year old girl or boy not known to the previous classical- only to the stereotypes you have picked up from here like lets say Alien- this is solid science fiction. Its use of stop motion is unique- it gives it a breath of its own DNA- like Ray Harry H's movies.

great review, but I actually laughed at some of the terrible visuals. Well, only when that guy gets shot and flies out of the building in the end. A very entertaining movie in my mind, but nothing special.

Hmmmm. I know I didn't like this, but I liked reading your review. Your turning into a good reviewer Dave, though I still don't know about the divided sections based on MW standards. I think there is more to a film than just tho four subcatergories. Nevertheless, good work!
