'Rio' Review By Micah Delgado

Despite the cliche storyline, this movie will have you taking lessons to learn samba.

I'm a sucker for love stories, so when this movie came out on dvd, I had to rent it. We've all seen this story before: Protagonist is thrust into an unknown environment with a complete opposite with him, then after challenges they fall in love, fight, one is in danger, other rescues him/her, happily ever after. Be that as it may, this movie utilizes it well. The voice acting is top notch, with Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway giving spot on voices of the characters, while Will.i.am and Jaime Foxx add good comic relief. The voice that grabs me the MOST is Jemaine Clement and his character Nigel; a crazy c*ckatoo who hunts the two lovebirds, he gives a voice performance that sets a funny yet evil mood. The city of Rio de Jenero itself is perfectly animated, and the representation of Carnival hits the mark as beautiful and fun. Overall a high recommend to anyone seeking a good time.
