Ratatouille is ... something completely unique

Ratatouille is an incredible film, probably the most vibrant, brilliantly animated cgi film ever made. The film succeeds because unlike many recent animated films, it is something completely unique and with complex, layered themes; it is a story about a rat with aspirations of being a great chef, and a young man with an awkward disposition but a kind heart. Ratatouille ranks with Toy Story and Finding Nemo as one of Pixar's best films. My only warning is that, while the film has nothing offensive in it, it is probably too mature to appeal to very young children. Unlike Cars or Finding Nemo or even Shrek, there are no colorful goofy creatures or characters in this movie. There are only rats and people, and as such, small children (6 and under) may find themselves bored by its runtime. For everyone else, though, Ratatouille is one of, if not the best film so far this year.
