This was an interesting movie. It tried to get political and show you first hand the sort of atrocities that take place on the reg in Burma. I was sort of aware of what was going on but seeing it portrayed in a real life visceral manner during a Rambo movie burned it into my brain. It wasn't what I expected though.
I can't fault someone for trying to bring attention to something important. And it isn't like a really intellectual audience goes to see Rambo on opening night so if any of them left with an updated awareness of the Burmese people's sufferings then that's cool right? I suppose.
It was weird though. I came to see Rambo kick ass on some bad dudes and he does but It was weird to see him involved in something that in real life is another one of those genocidal situations that we as a country ignore. It was almost cathartic to have him there doing sh*t but since we don't do dick to help the real life Burmese it kind of sucked.
The movie it's self was kind of cool. I enjoyed it overall. There is massive amounts of killing. I heard on TV last night that there was something like 236 bodies dropped. Making for something like 2 a minute. Prolly a lot like the real life Burma. I wasn't trying to be funny there BTW.
I did enjoy the film but now that it's the next day and I'm thinking about it all that I can think about is the real life people in Burma. I guess in that sense it's an effective ad for humanitarian aid. Well not really cause the plot of the movie is that these Christians from Colorado come to Thailand and get Rambo to take them down the Mekong river into Burma. Humanitarian aid stuff. Well, as soon as they get the the village gets destroyed in the most horrible destruction of a village since Apocalypto. This will be one of the gnarliest scenes you see this year. It's HARSH with a capital H. It made me feel very uncomfortable. Cory liked it though. He hooted and hollered during the whole bit. He's whacked.
Rambo saves them with the help of some mercanaries and all that. It's good man. You'll prolly like it if you like old school action flicks. You know, back in the day action used to mean a movie like this. Some real blood and guts crap but over time action movies became more like family fare so a film like this is startling but really it's keeping it real in the way that they don't any more.
Well, if you liked this and would like to see some more then come on over to www.iseerobots.com We cover all the stuff that you prolly enjoy, movies, mma,tv, hot celeb chicks.. whatever man. Just do it.
